Competitions
We provide the opportunity for students to attend competitions as a soloist, duo or trio. We expect a high level of commitment from competitive students.​

Cost

Entry fees for the larger comps are approx. $8-$16 per entry. The smaller comps are more expensive – approx. $30-45 per entry

Costume purchase – approx. $30-$200 (we can help you find some second hand to keep costs down)

Adult passes to watch and competitor passes for insurance purposes – up to approx. $15 per pass

If you would like DCDC to manage your competition journey, a Management Fee of $150 for the whole season will be required. This includes doing the entries, assisting with music uploads, assisting with voice critiques, and if possible, attending the competitions to support the student with warm up, practice, hair, make up, costumes, etc.

Music Uploads & Voice Critiques

To upload your music for competitions and to listen to voice critiques, you will need to set up an account with Music Uploads.
Costumes, Shoes & Tights

You are required to purchase a costume. We can assist you in finding an appropriate costume.

You are required to have the correct shoes and tights, and ensure they are in good condition for every competition.
Uniform

As a representative of DCDC, you are required to wear your formal uniform to and from competitions.
Commitment
-
Must attend a regular weekly private lesson, as well as a technique class in the style of dance you are competing.

Must attend 4-5 competitions a year (Gladstone, Biloela, Bundaberg and Sunny Coast)

Parents/Guardians to do entries for competitions, upload music and listen to voice critiques with their child (we can help you with this)

Parents/Guardians to practice with their child at home

Once students have learnt their routine, they will perform the same routine for at least 2 years (we will modify the routine as the student grows and is able to do more difficult things). We will add more routines as and when we think the student is ready.
